   Direct Iran-Israel hostilities have since escalated far beyond the 2024 exchanges: a June 2025 '12-Day War' (with US strikes on Iran's Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan nuclear sites), a February-March 2026 escalation, and renewed strikes and a Strait of Hormuz confrontation continuing into July 2026.
