Claims that vaccines, IDs, or consumer goods secretly implant RFID chips for population tracking.

Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, codenamed "Curveball" by the German BND intelligence service, was an Iraqi defector whose fabricated claims of mobile biological-weapons laboratories formed a central pillar of the case for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. His allegations were featured prominently in Colin Powell's 5 February 2003 presentation to the UN Security Council. The Senate Intelligence Committee (2004) and the Iraq Survey Group Duelfer Report (2005) found the claims without factual basis. Alwan admitted fabrication to The Guardian in 2011.

On 12 October 2000, al-Qaeda operatives in a small boat loaded with explosives detonated alongside the USS Cole during a refuelling stop in Aden harbor, Yemen, killing 17 US sailors and wounding 39. The 9/11 Commission Report documented multiple prior CIA and NSA intelligence warnings about al-Qaeda's use of Aden as a staging area and threats to US Navy vessels. Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri was charged as the operational planner; his military commission case at Guantánamo Bay remains ongoing. The claim that warnings were deliberately ignored — as opposed to structurally mishandled — is partially supported by the 9/11 Commission's own findings.

Air France Concorde Flight 4590 crashed near Gonesse, France, on 25 July 2000, killing all 109 people on board and four on the ground. The BEA concluded that a titanium strip shed by a Continental Airlines DC-10 on the same runway punctured a Concorde tyre, whose debris ruptured a fuel tank, causing an engine fire and loss of control on takeoff. Continental Airlines and maintenance engineer John Taylor were convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2010; the convictions were overturned on appeal in 2012. Conspiracy claims centre on whether Concorde's known pre-existing structural vulnerabilities were concealed by Air France and Aerospatiale, and whether the Continental debris finding scapegoated a foreign carrier.

A persistent cluster of claims links Bill Gates to depopulation or eugenics agendas, most commonly by citing his 2010 TED talk in which he discussed the relationship between healthcare, reproductive services, carbon emissions, and global population growth. In its most common form, the claim misrepresents Gates's actual argument: that improving healthcare and education in developing countries historically correlates with declining birth rates (demographic transition theory). The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's published focus areas — vaccines, maternal health, agricultural productivity — are oriented toward reducing child mortality and improving living conditions, not population reduction. More extreme variants allege Gates Foundation vaccines are covertly designed as depopulation tools; this framing carries antisemitic-adjacent structural patterns that the ADL has documented. All variants have been repeatedly fact-checked as false or unsupported by Reuters, AP, and Politifact.

Claims by targeted-individual communities that coordinated networks surveil, harass, or electronically attack them.

The Pentagon no-plane theory holds that American Airlines Flight 77 did not strike the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, and that the building was instead hit by a missile, a smaller aircraft, or an internal explosion. The theory gained traction from the 2002 French book *L'Effroyable Imposture* by Thierry Meyssan and from early online photo collections noting that initial post-impact photographs did not prominently show aircraft debris. Extensive counter-evidence exists: the Flight 77 flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, DNA identification of passengers and crew, over 1,000 eyewitnesses along the aircraft's final approach, recovered aircraft debris (including engine parts), and the ASCE Pentagon Building Performance Report. No credible alternative trajectory or origin for a missile has ever been documented.

At 5:21 PM on September 11, 2001, World Trade Center Building 7 — a 47-story skyscraper that was not struck by any aircraft — collapsed. The controlled-demolition theory holds that the collapse was pre-planned and executed with planted explosives, implying a broader conspiracy behind the 9/11 attacks. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) conducted a three-year investigation (NCSTAR 1A, 2008) and concluded the collapse resulted from the thermal expansion of structural steel following office fires ignited by debris from the North Tower. The collapse of WTC 7 was the first documented case of a steel-frame high-rise building collapsing primarily due to fire rather than impact damage.

Enron Corporation, once the seventh-largest company in the United States, collapsed into bankruptcy on 2 December 2001 after executives used Special Purpose Entities — named Raptor, JEDI, Chewco, LJM1, and LJM2 — to hide more than $30 billion in debt off the balance sheet. CEO Jeffrey Skilling and Chairman Kenneth Lay promoted a fraudulent mark-to-market accounting regime that allowed Enron to book speculative future profits as current income. Stock peaked at $90.75 in August 2000; within 16 months the company was worthless. More than 4,000 employees lost jobs and pensions. The fraud was confirmed by congressional investigations, SEC findings, and criminal convictions.

A loose coalition of researchers and activists who reject the official account of the September 11, 2001 attacks, alleging government foreknowledge, controlled demolition of the World Trade Center, or a staged Pentagon strike.

President Bush secretly authorised the NSA to conduct warrantless surveillance of Americans' international communications beginning in October 2001, in a programme codenamed Stellar Wind. The programme bypassed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. A 2004 Department of Justice revolt — dramatised by the Comey/Ashcroft hospital confrontation — nearly ended it. The New York Times revealed the programme in December 2005 after sitting on the story for a year. Stellar Wind is confirmed by declassified NSA documents, congressional testimony, and multiple Inspector General reports.

R&B singer Aaliyah Dana Haughton and eight others died when a Cessna 402B crashed shortly after takeoff from Marsh Harbour Airport in the Bahamas on 25 August 2001. The National Transportation Safety Board investigation determined the probable cause was weight overload and the aircraft being piloted by Luis Morales III, who was not rated for the aircraft type and whose toxicology showed cocaine and alcohol. The claim that the crash was a cover-up or an orchestrated killing has no evidentiary basis and directly contradicts the NTSB findings.

In September–November 2001, letters laced with weapons-grade anthrax spores were mailed to news outlets and US senators, killing five people and infecting seventeen others. The FBI's Amerithrax investigation ultimately focused on Bruce E. Ivins, a USAMRIID scientist who died by suicide in 2008 before charges were filed. A 2011 National Academy of Sciences review found the FBI's scientific case "not as definitive as portrayed."

Fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers were Saudi nationals. The theory that the Saudi government — as an institution — directed or materially supported the attacks has circulated since 2001 and gained traction when the "28 pages" of the Joint Congressional Inquiry were declassified in July 2016. Those pages documented contacts between several hijackers and individuals with connections to the Saudi government, including Saudi consulate and embassy staff. FBI declassifications under a 2021 Biden executive order (Operation Encore documents) provided additional detail on specific Saudi government-affiliated individuals who assisted hijackers in the Los Angeles area. The 9/11 Commission (2004) found no evidence that the Saudi government as an institution, or senior Saudi officials acting in their official capacity, funded or directed al-Qaeda's attack. The distinction between "Saudi government-affiliated individuals provided support" (substantially documented) and "Saudi government as state actor directed the attack" (not established) is central to a fair assessment.

The Bush administration's 2002-2003 claim that Saddam Hussein's Iraq had operational ties to al-Qaeda, used as a central justification for the 2003 US invasion. The 9/11 Commission, Senate Intelligence Committee reports, and a 2006 Pentagon IG report all concluded no such operational relationship existed.

WorldCom Inc., the second-largest long-distance telecom company in the United States, was revealed in June 2002 to have executed an $11 billion accounting fraud — the largest in US history at the time. The Boston Globe Spotlight team's 2002 investigation, the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report (2018), the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (2013–2017), and the John Jay Report (2004, commissioned by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops) collectively document the institutional pattern. This is a confirmed institutional cover-up backed by court records, government commission findings, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism.

Between approximately 2002 and 2016, Wells Fargo employees opened roughly 3.5 million unauthorized deposit and credit-card accounts in customers' names to meet aggressive internal sales quotas. The CFPB, OCC, and City of Los Angeles fined the bank $185 million in September 2016. Subsequent enforcement brought the OCC fine to $1 billion and the Federal Reserve imposed an asset cap of $1.95 trillion that remained in place beyond 2024. AROPL is a small new religious movement led by Abdullah Hashem Aba Al-Sadiq, who claims succession to Ahmed Al-Hassan, who himself claimed in the early 2000s to be the Mahdi (the prophesied figure in Islamic eschatology). Multiple ex-members and journalists have documented cult-like high-control dynamics, leader-devotion, financial extraction, and serious allegations against named figures in the leadership. AROPL denies the allegations and continues to operate openly. The movement is unrelated to and frequently confused with the mainstream Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, an established religious community founded in 1889 with no connection to AROPL.

Forged documents purporting to show Iraq had sought uranium yellowcake from Niger were used to support the case for Iraqi WMD acquisition. Ambassador Joseph Wilson publicly rebutted the claim in the New York Times on 6 July 2003. Days later, columnist Robert Novak revealed that Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, was a covert CIA officer. The subsequent leak investigation resulted in the 2007 conviction of Vice Presidential Chief of Staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby for perjury and obstruction of justice. President Bush commuted Libby's sentence; President Trump issued a full pardon in 2018.

Dr David Kelly, a UK Ministry of Defence biological weapons expert, was found dead in Harrowdown Hill woods, Oxfordshire, on 17 July 2003 after being publicly identified as the source who had told BBC reporter Andrew Gilligan that the Iraq WMD dossier had been "sexed up." The Hutton Inquiry (2003) ruled suicide by haemorrhage from a severed left ulnar artery compounded by co-proxamol toxicity and heart disease. A group of doctors challenged the findings from 2010 to 2015, arguing the ulnar artery wound could not have produced fatal blood loss, the co-proxamol level was sub-lethal, and there were no fingerprints on the knife. Theranos, founded by Elizabeth Holmes in 2003, claimed its proprietary Edison device could run hundreds of diagnostic tests from a single finger-prick of blood. The technology never worked as claimed. A 2015 Wall Street Journal investigation by John Carreyrou exposed the fraud. The company voided two years of Edison-based test results, affecting approximately 176,000 patients. Holmes was convicted of four counts of wire fraud (January 2022, sentenced to 11 years). President Balwani was convicted of 12 counts (July 2022, sentenced to nearly 13 years). Patients received false medical results; some made clinical decisions based on inaccurate data.

AT&T technician Mark Klein revealed in 2006 that a secret room on the 7th floor of AT&T's 611 Folsom Street facility in San Francisco had been equipped with a Narus STA 6400 deep-packet inspection system fed by a fiber-optic splitter. Klein's sworn declarations in EFF v. AT&T (Hepting) showed AT&T had allowed the NSA to tap internet backbone traffic without warrants. The New York Times had disclosed the broader warrantless wiretap program in December 2005. The FISA Amendments Act of 2008 granted retroactive immunity to telecoms. The room and the surveillance program are confirmed.

Victor Conte's Burlingame, California nutrition company supplied undetectable designer steroid THG ('the clear'), modafinil, EPO, and human growth hormone to a roster of elite athletes including Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery, Bill Romanowski, and Jason Giambi. A September 2003 IRS-CID raid led by agent Jeff Novitzky exposed the network. Conte received four months in prison and four months home detention in 2005. Marion Jones was sentenced to six months in prison in 2008 for perjury. Barry Bonds was convicted of obstruction of justice before that conviction was overturned in 2015.

On 28 April 2004 CBS News's 60 Minutes II broadcast photographs showing US Army personnel at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq abusing Iraqi detainees — hooding, forced nudity, human pyramids, leashing. Army Specialist Joseph Darby had provided the photos to the Army Criminal Investigation Division in January 2004. Eleven enlisted soldiers were charged and courts-martialled; Charles Graner received 10 years, Lynndie England 3 years, Ivan Frederick 8 years. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld offered his resignation, which President Bush refused. The Taguba Report (May 2004), the Schlesinger Panel, and the Fay-Jones Report documented systemic abuse and traced an interrogation-technique authorisation chain to OSD policy on SERE-derived 'enhanced' techniques. Senior leadership accountability was minimal.

The theory that governments and corporations use smartphones, smart speakers, social media, and other connected devices to conduct mass surveillance on citizens far beyond what is publicly acknowledged.

Helios Airways Flight 522, a Boeing 737-300 registration 5B-DBY, crashed near Grammatiko, Greece, on 14 August 2005, killing all 121 aboard. The pressurization mode selector had been left in MANUAL during a maintenance check and not returned to AUTO before flight. The crew misdiagnosed the resulting cabin altitude warning as a takeoff configuration horn, failed to recognise hypoxia onset, and became incapacitated at cruise altitude. The aircraft flew on autopilot toward Athens while Hellenic Air Force F-16s intercepted it and found the flight deck unresponsive. Flight attendant Andreas Prodromou, a trained pilot, briefly assumed control before the aircraft crashed after fuel exhaustion. The Cypriot AAIASB report (2006) confirmed decompression as cause.

Major international banks including Barclays, UBS, Deutsche Bank, and Rabobank colluded to manipulate the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR), which underpins over $300 trillion in financial contracts worldwide. Traders coordinated via chat rooms to rig rates for profit. Exposed 2012; $9+ billion in fines; four convictions.

Siemens AG, the German industrial conglomerate, paid more than $1.4 billion in bribes across 60+ countries between the mid-1990s and 2007, including contracts in Argentina (national-ID), Bangladesh (telecom), Iraq (Oil-for-Food), Nigeria (telecom), and Venezuela (rail). Anna Politkovskaya, a Novaya Gazeta journalist renowned for her coverage of the Second Chechen War, was shot dead in the elevator of her Moscow apartment building on 7 October 2006 — Vladimir Putin's birthday. Five individuals were convicted in 2014: Lom-Ali Gaitukayev (20 years), Rustam Makhmudov (life), Dzhabrail Makhmudov (12 years), Ibragim Makhmudov (14 years), and Sergey Khadzhikurbanov (20 years). Moscow police lieutenant colonel Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov was convicted separately in 2012. The killing itself is confirmed; the identity of the person who ordered it remains officially unresolved, with testimony from convicted men implicating an FSB colonel whose broader chain of command has never been established.

Networks promoting chlorine dioxide or MMS as a detox, autism treatment, infection cure, or cancer cure.

Former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko was poisoned with polonium-210 in London in November 2006 and died on 23 November 2006. The UK Owen Inquiry (2016) found that FSB operatives Andrey Lugovoy and Dmitry Kovtun carried out the assassination and that Vladimir Putin "probably" personally approved the operation. Po-210 traces were identified at the Millennium Hotel, Itsu sushi bar, and the Pine Bar of the Millennium. Russia denied involvement and refused to extradite Lugovoy, who subsequently became a Russian MP.

Spanish Guardia Civil raided Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes' Madrid clinic on Calle Zurbano on May 23, 2006, seizing over 200 blood bags labeled with athlete codenames alongside EPO and transfusion equipment. Approximately 50 professional cyclists were implicated including Jan Ullrich, Ivan Basso, Alejandro Valverde, and Tyler Hamilton. A 2013 court ruling ordered the blood bags destroyed before identification; this was overturned by the Audiencia Provincial of Madrid in 2016, but most bags had by then been destroyed or contaminated. Pakistan Peoples Party leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on 27 December 2007 at Liaquat National Bagh in Rawalpindi following a political rally. She had returned from exile in October 2007 after receiving an amnesty from President Pervez Musharraf. A combination of gunshots and a suicide bomb attack killed her and more than twenty others. The Musharraf government's initial claim that she died from striking her head on the vehicle sunroof was contradicted by medical and forensic evidence. The 2010 UN Commission of Inquiry (chaired by Heraldo Muñoz) found that police had hosed down the crime scene within ninety minutes of the attack, destroying critical evidence. TTP attribution to Baitullah Mehsud remains disputed. Five individuals were convicted in 2017; Musharraf was charged in absentia.

Lehman Brothers used Repo 105 transactions to temporarily move $50 billion or more in assets off its balance sheet at each quarter-end, artificially deflating its reported leverage ratios and concealing its true financial condition from investors and regulators. UK law firm Linklaters provided the legal opinions that made the transactions possible; US counsel had refused. Bankruptcy examiner Anton Valukas documented the scheme in a 2,200-page report published March 2010. Ernst & Young, Lehman's auditor, was later sued by the New York Attorney General and settled for $99 million in April 2015. Stuxnet was a joint US-Israeli cyber-weapon — developed under the codename Operation Olympic Games — designed to sabotage Iran's uranium enrichment programme at the Natanz facility by targeting Siemens S7-315 and S7-417 programmable logic controllers (PLCs) governing IR-1 centrifuges. Discovered in the wild in June 2010 by Belarusian security firm VirusBlokAda and subsequently analysed in detail by Symantec and German researcher Ralph Langner, Stuxnet exploited four zero-day vulnerabilities. The New York Times' David Sanger confirmed the US-Israeli authorship in a 2012 report based on US official sources. Approximately 1,000 IR-1 centrifuges are estimated to have been physically destroyed by the worm. It is the first publicly known nation-state cyber-weapon designed to cause physical-world destruction.

A persistent claim holds that the NFL scripts Super Bowl outcomes — and by extension regular-season games — to maximise TV ratings, advertising revenue, and narrative appeal. Proponents argue that blowout scores, suspiciously timed penalties, and convenient underdog storylines are too neat to be coincidental. The claim collapses on multiple factual grounds: actual Super Bowl outcomes include historic blowouts and low-rated matchups that would be counterproductive if ratings were the goal; the conspiracy would require thousands of participants — players, coaches, referees, and executives — to maintain a perfect secret; and no serious investigation has ever produced evidence of coordinated outcome-fixing at the league level.

The false claim that Barack Obama was not born in the United States and was therefore ineligible for the presidency.

The Federal Reserve extended an $85 billion emergency credit facility to American International Group on 16 September 2008 — the day after Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy — to prevent AIG's collapse from triggering cascading defaults across the global financial system. The rescue was later expanded to a combined Fed and Treasury TARP exposure of approximately $182.5 billion. AIG Financial Products, operating from London under Joseph Cassano, had sold $441 billion in credit-default swap protection on subprime CDOs with inadequate collateral reserves. When AIG was bailed out, approximately $62 billion flowed through to Goldman Sachs and other financial counterparties at face value — a "pass-through" that drew intense Congressional scrutiny. In November 2009, thousands of emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit were leaked online. Critics seized on phrases like "hide the decline" and "Mike's Nature trick" as proof that climate scientists had fabricated or manipulated data to manufacture evidence of global warming. Five independent investigations — the UK House of Commons Science and Technology Committee, the Independent Climate Change Email Review (Muir Russell), the Science Assessment Panel (Oxburgh), Penn State University, and the NOAA Inspector General — all cleared the scientists of data fraud or scientific misconduct.
